To control rig floor and sub-structure off-site noise transmission, installing 10 to 14-foot drilling rig sound blankets on existing (or installed) wind wall frames on the rig floors and substructure is recommended. Typically, the rig floor and sound barrier wall blankets are installed on the sides of the rig floors, which face sensitive off-site nose receptors. To achieve optimum sound mitigation performance, the open stairways and V doors also may need to be acoustically treated. Installing STC-25 acoustical soundproofing blanket panels on and around the rig floor can reduce floor noise levels by 15 to 22 dBA.
